Leading technology brand, Toshiba recently revealed a new set of eye-mounted wearables for the AR environment. The DynaEdge AR100 smart glasses combine a convenient AR experience with a miniature battery-powered DynaEdge PC.
Not only is the AR100 headset lightweight, but the DE-100 mini PC that comes with it is tiny enough to fit into your pocket too, promising an excellent augmented experience for enterprises. The DynaEdge mini PC runs with Windows 10, and features Intel Core m7 processors too. Not only can the glasses deliver mission-critical information for your workers, but they can also record and stream information to a remote app or expert, so they get advice, help, and interactions in real-time.
Toshiba DynaEdge AR100 Smart Glasses: Features
The AR100 DynaEdge smart glasses are a combination of a set of AR glasses and a mini PC. The mobile mini PC came out quite a while ago, with various physical buttons on it. However, now, you don’t have to control the PC manually. Instead, you can use the touch-sensitive voice or swipe-pad control on the arm of your head-mounted “glasses”.
The arm comes with a proximity sensor too, as well as an ambient light sensor, LED light, a compass, microphone, speaker, gyroscope, and finally, the quarter-inch display. Users have the freedom to mount their AR100 experience in a range of ways, with safety frames, lens-less frames, headbands, and helmet mounts available online.
There’s also a set of programmable buttons included with the kit, which provide users with more control over navigating the software. Even the built-in audio is impressive, with noise cancellation across dual microphones for better clarity.
Toshiba DynaEdge AR100 Smart Glasses: Performance
The Toshiba DynaEdge AR100 smart glasses are the first totally wearable solution produced by AR, with industrial-grade opportunities. The AR solution basically gives you the freedom to access a Windows 10 computer wherever you are, with an experience that’s more intuitive than using your smartphone screen.
Developer kits are available in two configurations, allowing companies to build their own applications. Both kits come with the same hardware, and the Toshiba Vision DE Suite, where developers can build with the various AR functionalities available.
These intelligent glasses were built by Toshiba to meet with the demands of the modern workplace, using powerful tools like an Intel Core M 6th generation processor, and Intel HD graphics. There’s also dual-band wireless built-in too. Thanks to the proprietary Vision DE suite software, it’s surprisingly easy to discover the full functionality of the AR solution. Device functions are divided into their own colour coded categories, and there are tons of actions available.
Toshiba DynaEdge AR100 Smart Glasses: Verdict
The Toshiba DynaEdge AR100 smart glasses are a set of industrial-ready smart glasses with endless possibilities. You can stream and record live video, take photos, save and access documents, play with diagrams and even communicate with Skype. There’s also a full suite of extra file synchronization and centralised management features for devices too.
These AR glasses, designed for the enterprise, open the door to an excellent range of opportunities in remote management, maintenance, manufacturing, inspection and training.
