Delhi Technological University’s Society of Robotics (SRDTU) and eLearning platform Reskill are teaming up to host ‘Spark DTU,’ an online workshop supported by Meta, to instruct augmented reality (AR) content creators of all skill levels on the Spark AR Studio software development kit (SDK).
Reskill is hosting the digital workshop via its online learning platform on 21 November.
SRDTU’s workshop will teach attendees how to harness the power of Meta’s easy to use augmented reality developer kit (ARDK) and distribute AR content across Meta’s ecosystem of social media apps.
The workshop will also discuss the Metaverse and role SparkAR hopes to play in the technology’s development, with the company stating its Spark DTU would be one of the “initial steps” towards becoming a successful Metaverse developer.
What is Spark AR?
Spark ARDK powers the Menlo Park firm’s webAR effects and content found on its social media apps such as Facebook or Instagram.
Meta’s AR studio invites novice and seasoned developers to use its AR tools to create content, with or without coding skill, where developers can either import their own 3D assets or choose from selection of prepared assets from a built-in library.
Meta has split its AR ecosystem into three separate apps for MacOS, Windows, and mobile devices:
- Spark AR Studio is Meta’s creative tool for developers to build AR immersive experiences
- Spark AR Player app is a mobile companion tool that enables creators to test their content,
- ‘Player for Desktop‘ allows developers to test AR effects on a PC
The platform also contains ‘Spark AR Hub,’ a tool, allowing developers to publish effects and track performance data across Meta’s social media apps.
Meta supplies developers with a range of tutorials, resources, and seminars that help AR creators step into the SDK.
Spark AR is an increasingly popular creative community and Meta is supporting this with its ‘Spark AR Foundations’ course aimed at helping creators understand AR development opportunities.
At this years Facebook Connect event, the Menlo Park-based firm revealed a major rebranding and announced new XR hardware.
During the event Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, unveiled Project Aria, a pair of upcoming AR smart glasses with advanced object and voice recognition. Meta is supporting the upcoming release by hosting a series of useful Spark AR seminars, which took place during Connect 2021.
