Leading collaborative meeting tool Spatial launched its incredible XR meeting platform this year. The service connects people from across the globe in a shared virtual environment, complete with immersive content control. What’s more, the hardware-agnostic solution allows users to join on the device they choose, from the HoloLens to the Oculus Quest.

In December of 2020, Spatial took its solution to the next level with the arrival of an AR app for mobile devices, giving users another way to access the experience. With the arrival of native iOS and Android support, colleagues and friends can meet up in a shared space with various interactive models, boards, and avatars. The extra content overlays on top of your existing real-world space.

The New Mobile Version of Spatial

Supporting simultaneous collaboration between a range of platforms, the Spatial mobile version includes automatic camera switching, so you can see who’s talking at any moment. There’s also a mobile-centric UI to allow mobile avatars to interact with and move models, videos, or documents, as though they were in an VR environment.

According to CEO and CO-Found of Spatial, Anand Agarawala, this is a massive leap forward in spatial computing, and for the business itself. Spatial is currently strengthening its position as a leader in the current landscape, offering one of the most impressive AR/VR collaboration tools around today. Previously, only users with headsets could take advantage of VR and AR technology.

With Spatial’s mobile version, you can be a part of the experience wherever you are. Just hold your phone up and become an active part of any meeting in a virtual space, with life-like characters and content sitting in your living room or home office.

Extra Ways to Access Extended Reality

Spatial is opening the door to easier access for extended reality experiences with the new Spatial web and mobile apps. These are the perfect solution for anyone who wants to try out the various benefits of connecting with family, friends, and colleagues remotely, without investing in a headset.

The Co-Founder and CPO of Spatial, Jinha Lee, said that the Quest 2 is currently expected to sell around 6 million devices within the first 12 months, but Spatial is bringing extended reality to billions through mobile. The phone is likely to be the first place where AR technology can thrive, and Spatial is keen to capitalize on the trend. Currently, Spatial expects that some users will decide to buy a headset after using Spatial, but there’s still plenty of room for those who don’t want to spend.

Just like other versions of Spatial, this new update is free for Android and iOS, so you can get to work immediately.
