This week, Metaroom, a service from Amrax, introduced new 2D export features to its B2B spatial data capture toolkit. The Metaroom spatial data capture solution is aimed at workers in construction and property sectors to digital map 3D versions of real-world indoor spaces. With the new update, users can export spatial captures as 2D floorplan exports in a bid to optimise usability for Amrax’s targetted sectors.
Martin Huber, CEO of Amrax, noted that 2D floorplans “remain the foundation for project documentation, planning, and communication amongst architects, designers, real estate and construction professionals, ensuring that every detail is captured and understood.“
Due to the industry expectation for 2D exporting, Metaroom is answering the calls of professionals wanting to leverage spatial data capture tools.
Huber also added:
We’ve received numerous requests for 2D export formats, so we’re excited to offer this option for 2D-floor plans alongside our existing 3D exports. By introducing this 2D-floor plan capability in combination with our powerful 3D technology, we are opening up new possibilities for design. This gives professionals even greater control and insight into their projects, allowing them to plan spaces and share them across various export formats easily. With this launch, we continue our mission to democratise and simplify the digitisation of interiors, ensuring the success of our clients’ projects.
When a user creates a Metaroom 1-1 scale capture of an indoor space, the service allows professionals to scan it with a compatible iPhone Pro or iPad Pro model. Once the scanning action is complete, the service will enable users to export the 2D-floor pan alongside other file types, including AutoCAD, Chief Architect, 2D DXF, and 2D Project Report PDF formats.
Workers can also enhance spatial capture by integrating context-relevant data into sections of their spatial capture. Moreover, Metaroom workflow allows users to upload cans into a cloud infrastructure, giving freedom over which end device can access the capture.
Metaroom Partners with Palette CAD
Earlier this year, Amrax partnered with interior design software company Palette CAD to integrate the latter’s features from Metaroom, boosting the service’s usability.
Dirk Böckstiegel, the Director of Business Development and Export at Palette CAD AG, said at the time:
The interaction between Metaroom and Palette CAD is a prime example of how software can adapt to the user today. Scanning a room on-site at the customer’s premises using a smartphone and seamlessly switching to 3D planning takes the ease and efficiency of the consultation phase to a new level. We are delighted to have gained a strong new partner in Metaroom by Amrax, who – just like us – focuses on user-friendliness.
Palette CAD enables users to create precise 3D scans of a building’s interior for designing and presenting projects, ordering materials, and creating blueprints. Additionally, Palette CAD allows creative designers to utilize the LiDAR-ready cameras on their Apple Pro smartphones to scan and digitize a room or object.
The partnership allows Palette CAD users to send their 3D designs to the Metaroom application directly. This accessibility to spatial design for professional designers can result in more innovation, sustainable design, and reduced costs and time wastage. This partnership follows the scaling of the Amrax XR solution through other alliances with firms like Relux, Ranplan, Autodesk, and Siemens. With the more recent 2D floor plan, they aimed to improve the user experience for its broad client list.
