The MWC 2025 gears are already turning. Alongside the emergence of next-generation mobile technology solutions at the event, XR and its hardware derivatives are making an expected splash.

A notable firm investing in the emerging AR smart glasses market is NTT QONOQ Devices, which is showcasing new XR products ready to launch into the AR smart glasses shark tank later this year.

During the event, the NTT will showcase its MiRZA wearable, an XR smart glasses device for enterprise usage, alongside an AR glasses prototype for consumer use.

The consumer-focused prototype AR smart glasses offer the expected visualisations such as notifications, navigation, translation, and AI interaction in a bid to improve everyday tasks and productivity. Meanwhile, the enterprise-facing MiRZA AR device looks to support remote assistant and field worker needs, with AR visualisations and workflows to help operators complete on-site procedures.

The device also leverages Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR2 Gen 1 chipset and ‘NTT XR Real Support, ‘ a custom framework for sophisticated remote guidance and fieldworker use cases.

The bespoke NTT XR Real Support framework looks to address critical workplace hurdles such as streamlining operations and simplifying skill acquisition.

Project leaders NTT QONOQ plan to debut the products this summer. Currently, MWC visitors can visit the firm’s booth to get up close with the products and experience a hands-on calligraphy application.

Moreover, NTT QONOQ Devices is looking to work with industry partners going into 2025 to distribute a range of bespoke applications and services for the device, ready for both enterprise and consumer use.

The Growing Smart Glasses Shark Tank

The news comes as the AR smart glasses space grows with worldwide competition. Meta is debatably leading the mainstream race with its Ray-Ban products and Orion Vision; however, more firms are entering the AR wearables pool, including devices that leverage fewer AR features to support deeper AI integrations.

Vuzix is a veteran in the game, releasing updates for workplace AR deployments throughout each passing year. Meanwhile, Realwear also targets enterprise and frontline worker environments with AR kits ready for demanding workspaces like mining and heavy industry.

MWC 2025 is already full of AR products, from smart glasses to smart contact lenses. It appears that 2024’s AR smart glasses trend is still going strong. There are countless firms entering the AR wearable space, a new perspective for every emerging XR landscape.
