Geenee AR, a WebAR publishing platform for Metaverse services, and virtual reality (VR) avatar designers Ready Player Me announced a partnership to create wearable AR avatars with no code needed.

The partnership creates a platform that enables individuals to wear their virtual avatars by overlaying digital accessories in the real world, including NFT support, physical features, and outfits.

Geenee AR supplies Ready Player Me with its powerful WebAR full-body tracking software, which overlays AR effects on users with smartphone cameras, without the need to download extra software.

Alternatively, those with lesser technical knowledge can import their pre-existing Ready player Me avatars on Geenee’s full-body tracking engine.

Cory Grenier, CEO for Geenee AR, said,

“No other avatar platform has built a scalable, interoperable metaverse-ready product like Ready Player Me, so it was a natural synergy to partner. Geenee is excited to bridge AR and blockchain as we co-develop a Web3(d) future together with Ready Player Me where art and artificial intelligence combine to deliver meaningful products without precedent.”

Timmu Tõke, the CEO & Co-Founder of Ready Player Me, also said that the firm was investing in the “deeper integration of [the] Ready Player Me avatar creator into [the] Geenee AR [engine].”

The project gives brands and marketing teams an interactive advertising route to grow campaigns via engaging immersive experiences or applications.

The news comes after Decentraland hosted the Metaverse Fashion Week, which featured organisers The Immersive KIND and e-ternity and sponsorship from Threedium and Boson Protocol, among others.

The event showcased how brands could use the link between fashion and technology to increase market awareness and innovate their product lineupsa.

Ready player Me

The developments come after Ready Player Me partnered with WebAR engine developers 8th Wall to integrate its browser-based immersive experience engine with Ready Player Me’s avatar system, just weeks before Niantic purchased 8th Wall last month.

The Tallinn, Estonia-based cross-platform compatible avatar creation service brings high-quality digital representations of individuals across various devices and services.

According to the firm, the avatar platform works with social VR services such as VRChat, MeetingVR, and up to 1,800 compatible immersive experiences.

The platform supports user customisation on real-time 3D (RT3D) development platforms from Unity Technologies and Epic Games for web, mobile, and desktop platforms.
