Last week at the Augmented World Expo (AWE 2022), Campfire, a distributor of holographic virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) content, showcased Studio Console, a device for deploying immersive collaboration spaces.

The device enables remote design teams to access enterprise-grade immersive collaboration environments, where employees can work together on real-time 3D (RT3D) digital twins like vehicles, structures, and locations. Users can also best accommodate the device for their environment by placing multiple Studio Console floor mats around a site.

Users place the device on a large indoor floor, enabling the Campfire Studio Console to display spatial RT3D visualisations, detect user inputs, and relay the information to other team members.

Announced last month, Campfire’s latest product comes following a mass interest in the firm’s early access programme for its launch in the Autumn of last year.

Jay Wright, the CEO of Campfire, explained that he expected a “positive response” for the firm’s product portfolio, but the initial feedback “greatly exceeded” expectations.

He added:

“We received feedback that customers quite literally want to use Campfire to build bigger and better things. The Studio Console is a direct result of that feedback”

The Campfire Studio Console supports the firm’s existing Scenes platform that projects immersive visualisations as spatial holograms instead of a 2D render on a screen. Teams can also collaborate remotely on Campfire with digitally rendered avatars.

More on Campfire Hardware

The news comes as Campfire develops a series of devices that enable teams to collaborate using enterprise immersive tools.

Campfire designed its headsets to support its unique brand of immersive workflows, allowing users to view holograms of real-time 3D (RT3D) assets. The device also has a 92-degree diagonal field-of-view and a detachable visor to enable VR immersive experiences.

The firm provides users with a controller that attaches to a phone, allowing users to project holograms seen by all participants in a shared collaboration space, and navigate the user interface.

The Campfire service is also available for Apple iPad, letting users participate in immersive workflows without lengthy XR hardware onboarding processes.
