The extended reality landscape is rapidly evolving, with key players making significant strides in bolstering enterprise solutions and expanding consumer accessibility.
This week, major announcements from Meta, PIXO VR, and Snap highlight the industry’s focus on refining immersive training, streamlining device management, and introducing advanced smart glasses to a competitive market.
These developments underscore a collective drive to make XR technologies more practical, versatile, and widespread in both professional and personal domains.
Meta Bolsters Enterprise XR with New MDM Partnership
Meta has partnered with SkillsVR, a leading provider of XR Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, to enhance its Horizon Managed Services. This integration adds another third-party XR MDM solution to the existing offerings from ManageXR and ArborXR, seemingly aimed at improving the workplace usability of Meta’s headset portfolio.
According to SkillsVR, incorporating its solutions into Meta Horizon Managed Services will make VR training “easier, smarter, and more impactful for enterprises.” James Coddington, SkillsVR CEO, added:
Our selection as an official Meta Horizon Managed Services MDM partner is a milestone for us. It allows us to leverage Meta’s powerful ecosystem while providing our clients with user-friendly and efficient VR training management.
The company also highlights that when a business utilises Meta Quest for training, users can implement VR training tools through the official SkillVR integration. This includes features such as tracking learner progress, remote device management, and a consolidated MDM dashboard.
PIXO VR Boosts Immersive Training Accessibility with New Partnerships
This week, PIXO VR, a provider of immersive training solutions for enterprises, announced a strategic partnership with MadXR. The goal of this collaboration is to develop customised training content tailored for various sectors and compatible with multiple devices, including XR headsets, desktops, mobile devices, and tablets.
This partnership aims to enhance accessibility to immersive training services, allowing employees to choose between VR simulations, desktop-based instruction, and mobile device training.
“Enterprises need immersive training that’s not only scalable and easy to deploy, but also uniquely suited to their operations,” said Sean Hurwitz, CEO and Founder of PIXO.
Hurwitz also added:
We’ve seen this as one the biggest barriers to adoption, and “Partnering with MadXR allows us to deliver custom-built content that works on any device—VR, desktop, or mobile—all managed through our enterprise-grade platform. It’s about meeting people where they are and making world-class training truly accessible.
Enterprise users can utilise the PIXO platform to manage immersive training content across various devices and workplace locations. The platform also offers centralised data on trainee performance. PIXO VR highlights that custom projects are being developed in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, and quick-service restaurants.
Miranda Palmisano, CEO of MadXR, added:
At MadXR, we’re passionate about building immersive experiences that solve real-world challenges, at an affordable price. With PIXO, we can take high-quality training content and extend its impact beyond headsets. Whether it’s VR, desktop, tablet, or mobile, we’re helping enterprises deliver customized and effective training wherever it’s needed.
Snap’s New Lightweight Spectacles Enter a Growing AR Smart Glasses Market
Snap has introduced a new lightweight version of its Spectacles, part of its growing AR smart glasses portfolio, which is set to launch in 2026. This new model joins a competitive landscape of AR smart glasses, with major companies like Samsung and Google also planning to enter the market by 2025. Currently, Meta holds the lead with its AR Lite smart glasses.
The AR smart glasses market is still developing, and with increasing competition, Snap’s participation, along with its dedicated developer community, may lead to valuable advancements.
Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc. added:
We believe the time is right for a revolution in computing that naturally integrates our digital experiences with the physical world, and we can’t wait to publicly launch our new Specs next year. We couldn’t be more excited about the extraordinary progress in artificial intelligence and augmented reality that is enabling new, human-centered computing experiences. We believe Specs are the most advanced personal computer in the world, and we can’t wait for you to see for yourself.
Snap has recently launched its latest smart glasses and is celebrating the achievement of over 15 million subscribers for its Snapchat+ tier, which offers early and exclusive features. This success has led to the introduction of Lens+, a new subscription service that provides access to Snap Lenses and augmented reality (AR) experiences.
Lens+ includes AI video Lenses and games, and Snap has announced that tools will soon be available for Lens creators to build and monetise content within the ecosystem.
