Sightful has revealed a redesigned version of its augmented reality laptop, with the first batch set to ship in October this year.
The Spacetop G1 has a sleeker design compared to the model that shipped to early-access buyers around the time of CES in January.
Sightful CEO Tamir Berliner, who previously worked at Magic Leap, said in a blog post: “For the first time ever there’s a reason to use spatial computing that springs from an everyday need. That answer is productivity, and the product is Spacetop G1.
“I’m extremely proud to present the fruition of years of work, global collaboration during pandemic, war, infinite flights, multi-cultures.
“The language Spacetop speaks is global and knows no bounds.”
The laptop opens to reveal a keyboard and a pair of AR glasses inside the cover. Notably, there is no screen, but a webcam is a webcam at the top of the cover.
The Spacetop G1 runs Sightful’s Android-based SpaceOS operating system and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QCS8550.
Prospective buyers can reserve the Spacetop G1 now for an initial $100 and a total cost of $1700 (which includes a $200 early purchase discount).
Insightful said the Spacetop G1 can project a 100” screen through the glasses, which feature two OLED screens and two open-ear speakers.
XREAL Partnership
In partnership with XREAL, Sightful introduced the innovative AR laptop at AWE 2023.
XREAL’s CEO, Chi Xu, presented Spacetop as a “world first”, marking XREAL’s shift towards productivity tools and positioning it against Apple’s Vision Pro with its Air 2 Ultra smart glasses.
The XREAL Air 2 Ultra is a lightweight pair of AR smart glasses that offers advanced features at an affordable price. They include six degrees of freedom (6DoF), Full HD for each eye, a 52° field-of-view, 42 pixels per degree, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
They’re designed for long-term wear and support various work, entertainment, and fitness applications.
The glasses have TÜV Rheinland certification for colour accuracy, eye comfort, low blue light, and flicker-free use.
