Aldo Petruzzelli
What has been your business/work highlight of 2024 so far?
We raised our biggest funding round from institutional investors in Silicon Valley, have been approved for a O1A Visa for individuals with extraordinary ability thanks to the work done with Omnia and the work to come. We have released a teaser of an XR Browser that is going to facilitate deployment and cut down costs for enterprise clients. Have closed 2 big contracts and we have created a first of its kind integration with web-based AI companies like Sloyd.ai that want to integrate their tools in XR via Omnia.
Who is your business hero and why?
I have several from tech industries and non-tech industry. Tech space probably someone like Steve Jobs that had more of a design mindset (the real design not the looks) than anything else, but was able to interface with engineers for product discussions. He doesn’t come from a CS background either which is I think what we need if we want to sell ARVR to non-ARVR people. And then for the way he handled certain political situations across two G7 countries like the US and Italy, Sergio Marchionne or even Adriano Olivetti for the way he treated his employees, and saw his enterprise as a way to elevate the consciousness of the people living and working in his factories.
What’s the biggest business mistake you’ve made and what did you learn from it?
Listening to too many folks that had success in their industries but don’t understand how to strategize and execute in an industry that hasn’t achieved its hype cycle and it’s in a way not very well spoken of, like XR.
What’s the most inspirational book you’ve ever read and why?
I’ve been reading thinking fast and slow, I like it because it teaches the different modes of thinking we all go through when making decisions and it clearly explains how we try to take shortcuts as much as possible.
What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role in 2024?
I want to be able to showcase our potential to more DoD customers and close our seed round at a valuation we deserve. I will also find it difficult to manage a remote team and an in-person team at our HQ in Chicago.
What technology will have the greatest impact on your business this year and why?
Hopefully whatever Apple announces at WWDC24 for Vision Pro. We’d like to have more access to spatial personas, have users create different eye tracking profiles so it’s easier to demo what we want to show inside Omnia to different users.
