Frontline augmented reality (AR) startup KIT-AR has secured roughly £1.7 million from investors to develop immersive production line technology, it was found on Thursday.
Deep tech funding specialists Armilar Venture Partners co-led the financing round with Caixa Capital Risc along with funding from RKKVC, the Techtree fund, Sintef Venture V, and Best Horizon, enabling the UK startup to accelerate production of its AR displays for smartglasses.

João Dias, Principal of Armilar Venture Partners, added,
“Frontline workers of industrial companies are being faced with increasing challenges, particularly having to execute more complex instructions in less time, potentially generating production downtimes and defects. Augmenting those frontline workers with tech-based tools is crucial”
Tools for Frontline Workers
KIT-AR’s product employs AI to accurately display relevant instructional information as AR visualizations. The firm’s service helps frontline workers spot, track, and minimize production errors while managing busy production lines.
The company designed its technology for production line workers, although it confirmed that its display solutions apply to automotive, aerospace, and electronics manufacturing industries.
Manuel Oliveira, the CEO of KIT-AR, added,
“We hear about the perils of automation and the rise of the robots, but the reality is less drastic. Augmented workers are already developing synergies between man and machine to harness new strengths and overcome their shortcomings”
The news comes as AR hardware appears in more work environments due to the emerging XR landscape and industry 4.0 future of work.
For example, Thirdeye distributes products like its Razor smart glasses that enable hands-free guidance. The hardware displays AR instructional visualization that helps employees perform repairs and workplace operations.
Arvizio provides a cross-platform AR remote guidance tool that lets workers receive instructional visualizations overlaid in the real world. The firm also works with Microsoft to integrate hardware and software like Teams and the HoloLens 2.
