Trimble, an immersive technology company, announced last week that it is partnering with the Training Center for Construction at CAMPUS SURSEE in Switzerland to open the “Trimble Technology Lab.”

The Training Center for Construction already produces expert students in engineering, construction, and sustainability, and gives its students the skills needed to become construction machine operators, foremen, and general managers.

The institution combines theoretical and practical learning to accommodate industrial-grade training, and with help from Trimble, CAMPUS SURSEE will enhance its training with extended reality (XR) learning and offer courses for experienced professionals to acquire additional digital workplace skills.

Allyson McDuffie, Director of Education and Outreach at Trimble, said,

“Trimble’s education and outreach programs aim to support not only the next generation of construction professionals, but also working professionals. The CAMPUS SURSEE lab is a place for construction industry professionals to further their education and get vital experience with emerging technologies and best practices”

The Sursee-based institute for industrial tutoring and higher education provides practice-based training that directly benefits large scale enterprises.

McDuffie continued, adding,

“Higher learning institutions such as CAMPUS SURSEE are leading the way in this arena and are a model for others to look to”

Additionally, Trimble worked with Switzerland-based technology vendors MEB Group, SITECH, BuildingPoint, and ALLNAV AGdealer to establish the partnership.

Markus Brun, MEB Group CEO, said in a statement,

“The MEB Group, with experts from SITECH, BuildingPoint and ALLNAV, will provide support for hands-on instruction at the technology lab. Trimble, the MEB Group and CAMPUS SURSEE are making an important contribution to the successful digitalization of the Swiss construction industry”

Enhancing Workplaces with Trimble Tech

The Sunnyvale, California-based mixed reality (MR) technology vendor works with Microsoft to deliver the XR-10, an enterprise-grade industrial solution based on the powerful HoloLens 2 headset.

By partnering with Microsoft, Trimble puts various immersive tools such as eye and hand tracking, holographic menus, and direct quality control support into the hands of onsite workers.

Earlier this month, Trimble introduced an essential update for its XR-10 headset that provides HoloLens integration for its FieldLink solution.

Fieldlink by Trimble is a cloud-based tool for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) teams that quickly converts real-world objects into 3D digital twins. Using a tablet, AEC teams can place MR digital twin assets anywhere in a real-world environment.

The tool also enhances company efficiency as workforces no longer need to transfer large data files between devices for reviewal procedures.

Additionally, the Sunnyvale-based firm offers Trimble Connect, which adds crucial remote collaboration tools and new ways to manage 3D assets like computer-aided designs.

The news comes as Trimble takes the stage in Las Vegas, Nevada, for its annual Dimension+ conference from November 7 to 9. At the event, attendees can network with the global Trimble community and learn about the technology fuelling XR innovation.
