XYZ Reality announced on Monday it had launched its Atom augmented reality (AR) headset for construction workers, allowing the company to expand its solutions and advance in the global XR building industry.
According to XYZ Reality, the Atom AR headset is the most accurate AR device for the construction industry and using HoloSite along with AR displays, workers can access building information modelling (BIM) with an accuracy of millimetres, significantly boosting safety, reducing waste, and increasing efficacy to complete projects.
David Mitchell, XYZ Reality Founder and Chief Executive, said technology was “transforming the way the construction industry operates” to allow contractors to build high-quality projects with greater efficiency, adding the commercial launch was a “definitive proof point” of its solution’s value.
Mitchell added the industry showed a “substantial appetite” for the product, namely for “mission critical projects” requiring the highest levels of accuracy.
Speaking further about the firm’s market expansion, XYZ Reality’s Mitchell explained,
“Our entry into North America was spearheaded by current partners who are bringing us to the all-important territory. The market presents an exciting growth opportunity and is now supported with ‘The Atom’, which has been designed to show just how easy it is to work with our technology on-site”
One of the early adoptors of XYZ Reality’s HoloSite solution, Digitally-Enabled Lean Project Delivery (DePLD) echoed Mitchell’s comments.
Coral Butler, Project Management (PM) Group Head for the DePLD, explained his company’s experience,
“We’ve been working with XYZ Reality since the beginning and have already been impressed with how their powerful AR technology has been able to significantly increase efficiency and improve quality across multiple mission critical projects. The Atom has taken it to the next level. What’s so important is that The Atom has been developed by construction, for construction”
Butler stated the XYZ Reality team had an “acute understanding” of challenges, pressures, and frustrations from the validation process, adding the new tool was “essential” for project management.
The news comes after the London-based tech firm, who developed the Holosite AR platform for engineers, revealed its groundbreaking solution after a successful £20 million Series A round of fundraising in June this year.
The tech company has currently deployed more than £1.5 billion in tech projects across its commercial programmes, which cover pharmaceutical facilities, data centres, and airports, among others.
According to company estimates, it expects roughly 300 percent growth in 2022 and hopes to boost its share of the global XR market, following a meteoric rise in global interest from megaproject asset owners and general contractors, it said in a press release.
