Global tech firm Lenovo has announced a partnership with RealWear, the world’s leading assisted reality solutions provider, to build new products for frontline industrial workers, with the joint effort helping customers select and deploy extended reality (XR) solutions at scale for firms across the world.
Lenovo has certified RealWear’s HMT-1 devices for its ThinkReality platform to expand access to fronline workers for optimal hands-free 2D applications, the companies said in a press release.
The partnership will also see Lenovo offer the HMT-1 lineup of wearables in its global sales network.
ThinkReality’s enterprise-level cloud and device-agnostic solution is one of the world’s top XR platforms, where customers can use software development kits (SDKs), content and device management services, developer portals, and microservices, among other features.

Lenovo’s platform also provides turnkey solutions for XR applications for remote assistance, guided workflows and training, remote data visualisation, design collaboration, and others.
The RealWear-Lenovo partnership also backs a ‘reality first, digital second’ mixed reality (MR) experience, combining the technologies of Realwear’s HMT-1, ThinkReality A3 smart glasses, ThinkReality A6, and Mirage VRS3 standalone virtual reality headsets.
RealWear’s HMT-1 product lineup also delivers numerous features such as a hot-swappable battery and voice-controlled commands to work with remote staff and tackle large workflows to minimise errors. Headsets are also compatible with personal protective equipment (PPE).
Voice controls provide hands-free access to video calls, documents, guided workflows, industrial IoT data visualisation, and others, for over 200 apps, according to the Vancouver, Washington-based firm.
Jon Pershke, Vice President of Strategy and Emerging Business Development, Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group, said,
“The addition of RealWear’s field-proven monocular device on the ThinkReality platform means we’ll be able to support an even larger and growing number of enterprise customers as they equip industrial frontline workers with cutting-edge XR technology that improves workplace safety and drive unprecedented ROI”
Sanjay Jhawar, Co-founder and President of RealWear, said his company’s collaboration with Lenovo would “provide a rich and powerful experience” for frontline workers, adding,
“We’re excited to help bring the benefits of HMT-1 assisted reality solutions to Lenovo’s enterprise customers globally, leveraging a strong ecosystem of collaboration and productivity software tools for digital transformation”
The announcement comes after Mr Pershke made similar comments in an interview with Qualcomm, one of the world’s largest chipmakers and wireless component providers, on the latter’s partnership with Lenovo’s ThinkReality platform. The tech giant officially launched its ThinkReality A3 smart glasses earlier this year and opened sales of the MR headset devices last month.
Qualcomm currently provides Lenovo’s A3 device with its Snapdragon 870 processors and its XR-1 SmartViewer for cross-platform manoeuvrability, which would provide a “powerful, scalable solution to the growing demand for enterprise XR technology,” he said at the time.
