Wonda VR started out as a 360-degree video-to-VR experience converter, equipping content creators with a simple drag-and-drop interface. MIT picked up the start-up for its 2017 Play Labs @ MIT summer accelerator program, recognising its potential to transform the then-maturing AR/VR technology space.

Since then, Wonda VR has come a long way, holding a seed funding round of its own 2018, and pivoting into the training/learning in VR space. Today, Wonda VR is known for its compelling applications of VR storytelling in a wide variety of use cases such as internal communication, live events, student onboarding, etc.

What are the Key Features of Wonda VR?

At the heart of Wonda VR, lies a focus on immersive storytelling using virtual reality and 3D objects. An intuitive, drag and drop UI lets business users create compelling narratives in VR and gain from the following features.

Interactive, customised story paths

Using Wonda VR, you can stitch together multiple 360-degree videos and 3D scenes to create a unique story path every single time. Users will receive an interactive experience between these video sequences, thanks to Wonda VR’s custom buttons or “hotspots.” If a user looks at an object, you can set their gaze to trigger a specific object behaviour in 3D.

Live events and webinars

For corporate and student learning, Wonda VR can be used to set up virtual events that can be accessed in real-time or on-demand. You can define presenter rights so that specific roles can take charge of the session and you can also import your 3D assets to transform existing learning materials into VR.

Secure sharing and integration

Sharing the workspaces and events you create on Wonda VR is easy, thanks to private links and embeddable codes. There is SSO support for added security, and you can integrate Wonda with your master device management suite, learning management system, or public clouds.

Collaboration aids

The entire space within Wonda VR is fully annotatable. Users can choose to create post-it notes as well, working either solo or together with colleagues. Avatars on Wonda are customisable to reflect employees’ appearance and personality, and meeting participants can import their locally stored photo and audio files to discuss them in VR.

What are the Benefits of Using Wonda VR?

Wonda lets you craft guided narratives and adaptive story paths with ease. You can create VR experiences where each user witnesses a different story, which can be helpful for use cases like personalised learning. The ability to reuse your existing 3D assets and 360-degree videos in VR is another added advantage, reducing your barriers to VR adoption.

How Much Will It Cost?

Wonda VR is available in three versions – free, essentials, and premium. The essentials edition starts at $350 per month for 50 users, and this includes 4k and stereoscopic support, APIs, live sessions, and unlimited experiences. You could also contact the company for the premium version which adds on SSO, a dedicated account manager, and better support.
