Lenovo, a world-leading developer of XR solutions, officially unveiled its new line of AR smart glasses at CES2021 this week.
Building on the success of the ThinkReality A6 and the Mirage VR S3, the new Think Reality A3 headset scheduled for release in Q2 promises to take the company’s enterprise XR efforts to the next evolutionary step.
According to Lenovo, the A3 is “one of the most advanced and versatile enterprise-grade smart glasses in the marketplace” and offers a wide variety of cutting edge features for businesses looking to enhance collaboration, boost efficiency, and increase productivity amongst deployed workforces.
Along with customized virtual monitors and 3D visualization, ThinkReality A3 will also deliver AR assisted workflows and powerful immersive training capabilities to boost performance and across multiple levels within the enterprise.
Some of the key features of ThinkReality 3 include:
- An 8MP RGB camera with 1080p video for elite remote guidance & training support
- Dual Fish-Eye Cameras for high-quality room-scale tracking
- Snapdragon XR1 Platform for power and reliability
- PC & Smartphone Tethering for fully customizable workspace support
- A minimalist, lightweight design for added comfort and flexibility
ThinkReality A3 is built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, a full dedicated XR Platform is engineered to deliver the best high quality video, audio, and interaction experiences for users. It will be available to purchase in two separate editions.
With the ThinkReality A3 PC Edition, users can tether their device to a laptop or mobile workstation and position as many as five large virtual monitors in their field of view and use Windows software tools and applications.
According to Lenovo, these virtual monitors “expand the value of PCs, creating more productivity, privacy, and immersive experiences for industries like finance, architecture, and engineering, as well as for any remote worker whose space and privacy are limited.”
Lenovo also offers an Industrial Edition that enables users to tether their ThinkReality A3 to select Motorola smartphone devices for hands-free AR support when working in complex environments like factory floors and laboratories.
This Industrial Edition, Lenovo states, “is supported by the ThinkReality software platform, which enables commercial customers to build, deploy, and manage mixed reality applications and content on a global scale, with global support.”
While it’s too soon to give any real opinions on the ThinkReality A3 on a technical level, XR Today is looking forward to trialing this product, along with all the other smart glasses making their way through the pipeline later on this year.
Until then, stay tuned!
